MusclePharm Assault, Simplified

Assault is a pre-workout by MusclePharm.

It aims to improve energy, strength, and endurance for more effective workouts.

Note
There are other formulations for MusclePharm Assault – check the label before making a purchase.

Stimulants

  • 2.5 cups of coffee’s worth of caffeine per scoop

Mood/Focus

  • Caffeine – Improves alertness and motivation

There are no other mood or focus ingredients in Assault.

Performance

  • Creatine Monohydrate – Increases power output and endurance via increased ATP energy (optimal dose)
  • Betaine – Improves power output and endurance (good dose)
  • Caffeine – Can increase power output and endurance (especially with dose in 2 serves)
  • Beta Alanine – Improves endurance by delaying fatigue (poor dose)

Apart from creatine, all of the other performance ingredients could have been dosed a bit higher for better results.

The dose of beta alanine would be too low even in the dose provided in 2 servings.

Pumps

  • Creatine – Can increase cell volume
  • Taurine – Can increase cell volume (poor dose)

MusclePharm Assault appears to have no traditional pump ingredients, just small volumizing effects from creatine and taurine.

Extras

  • Vitamins
  • L-Glycine – Glucose uptake and recovery

We’re giving Assault 1 bonus point for a healthy dose of B, C, and E vitamins, along with potential benefits from L-glycine.

Conclusion

MusclePharm Assault is a formula that perhaps lives up to what it aims to provide in terms of energy, strength and endurance.

Its performance ingredients are solid, and very effective at 2 scoops – however this would come with a lot of caffeine.

Mood, focus, and pump ingredients are few to none; avoid MP Assault if you are after those effects.
