Neurocore, Simplified

Neurocore is a pre-workout supplement by MuscleTech.

Although the package states a serving size is one scoop, all of the benefits stated on their website come from 2 scoops’ worth of ingredients.

This means each tub has only 20 true servings rather than the 40 claimed.

Stimulants

  • 1.5 cups of coffee’s worth of caffeine per scoop

Mood/Focus

  • Caffeine – Improves alertness and motivation (good dose)
  • Rhodiola Rosea – Reduces fatigue (poor dose)
  • L-Theanine – Increases focus through promoting relaxation without sedation (poor dose)

Rhodiola rosea and L-Theanine are great ingredients for increasing focus and mental energy, but there is way too little of each in one scoop.

Performance

  • Citrulline – Improves endurance via nitric oxide production (poor dose)
  • Beta Alanine – Improves endurance by delaying fatigue (poor dose)
  • Creatine HCl – Increases power output and endurance via increased ATP energy (poor dose)
  • Caffeine – Can increase power output and endurance at higher doses

Neurocore underdoses all of the above in one scoop, leading to very average improvements in performance.

Double-scooping it increases these effects greatly, getting most of them to about two-thirds of their optimal dosage.

Pumps

  • Citrulline – Increases pumps via nitric oxide production (poor dose)
  • Creatine – Can increase cell volume (poor dose)

Pumps are sub-par from once scoop, but once again effects can be decently improved with a 2-scoop dose.

Extras

  • Yohimbe/Yohimbine – Fat-burner (poor dose)

Neurocore has very little extras except an almost negligible dose of yohimbine.

Conclusion

MuscleTech’s Neurocore performs very poorly at a one-scoop dose, with sub-par scores across the board.

If increased to two scoops per serving, performance effects are substantially improved, and the rest of the effects become somewhat above-average.

This would halve the true serves per container to 20, though.
